How clear are you about what you want from your working life?
It’s funny how it happens, you start out on your career, clutching your freshly minted degree and perhaps some professional qualifications. You are full of ideas of what you want from your working life.
You aim high, start climbing the ladder and you make stuff happen. You get a taste of “success”. You receive positive feedback, you get promoted, you begin managing a team, you are on the way. But then you have children, life throws a challenge or two your way and your priorities change.
If you are like most of us you don’t take the time to consciously consider how these changes effect your definition of success. You don’t revisit your career aspirations and you keep on trucking. And then you start to notice that it isn’t working out the way it once did. You don’t have the same amount of time for your job. You can’t make it to the after work networking events. You think you’re being overlooked. The best projects are being given to other people.
Does this sound familiar? If it does and if it’s a while since you have considered what you want from your working life or your definitions of success in light of your changing priorities then I am hosting a workshop on 5 July at which you can do just that. You can work out what you want from your career and consider what you need to do to make it happen.
